The network, launched at the UK Seafood Summit in 2018, aims to nurture and develop young talent and is the brainchild of Seafish, the public body which supports the £10bn UK seafood industry. Since its inception it has attracted around 40 young professionals from all over the UK.

Marcus Coleman, chief executive of Seafish, said that the response from the industry shows that the network was much needed.

“We’ll be bringing together that young talent from across the seafood sector and hosting our first meeting at the Future of Foods careers event, which we believe is a great location for our delegates,” he said.

The goals are to provide opportunities to explore business ideas, provide networking opportunities, facilitate partnerships and mentoring, develop leadership skills and identify career opportunities.

The network is open to aspiring seafood leaders between the ages of 25 and 40. The guest speaker at the inaugural meeting will be Simon Smith, managing director of Seachill and The Saucy Fish Co.
