The Vietnam Association of seafood exporters and producers (Vasep) has confirmed the US Department of Commerce has issued a decision on anti-dumping tax on catfish imported from Vietnam, increasing the tariff on several Vietnamese businesses.

Anti-dumping taxes on frozen pangasius fillets will increase 100-120% to $4.22 per kg.

Anti-dumping taxes on frozen pangasius fillets will increase 100-120% to $4.22 per kg.

The US department reconsiders the decision and tax on Vietnamese fish exporters every year.

Last year some Vietnamese companies were excluded from the list and enjoyed zero tariffs.

However, this year taxes on frozen pangasius fillets will increase by 100-120% to $4.22 (€3.29) per kg, which is higher than marked prices in the US market.

It is expected that pangasius companies will face heavy losses and be confronted by more barriers in the US market.
