POLY-DK says that is has been very busy since introducing the Soft Shackle at the latest DanFish exhibition.

Owner Gert Ottesen tells World Fishing that the soft shackle, together with 12-braided ropes made of Dyneema fibre, is replacing steel shackle and wire ropes more and more for different purposes.

Working onboard or in the net loft with lines and soft shackles made with Dyneema fibre is not only more efficient, it also is less physically demanding, says Mr Ottesen. On a weight-for-weight basis, Dyneema is 15 times stronger than steel. It is used to stop bullets, tow tankers, protect workers, enclose fish and assist surgeons. The material’s superior strength to weight ratio makes it ideal for the demanding environment aboard a fishing boat.

The Soft Shackle is made of 100% Dyneema Rope, which is used instead of steel shackles and is easy to open and close. The Soft Shackle is available from 1-100t in breaking load.
