Corfu Sea Farm hosted High Energy Mariculture Conference 2018 Technical Visit
Operating since 1992 Corfu Sea Farm, produces European Sea Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) and Gilt Head Sea Bream (Sparus aurata).
Located in North Eastern Corfu, the marine aquaculture sites are privileged by deep open water and strong currents.
Corfu Sea Farm has chosen to specialise within the fish farming industry by offering only products of exceptional quality. Its goal is to be acknowledged as an organisation that produces the finest European Sea Bass and Gilt Head Sea Bream. This is why the company has taken the strategic decision to maintain its yearly sales at moderate volumes (currently 540 tons) and intensively focus on creating value by offering superior quality.
Within this scope, Corfu Sea Farm has been awarded EN ISO 22000:2005 and 9001:2008 certifications and has been recognized as a member of the Friend of the Sea family. The company is actively seeking to expand its certification portfolio in the fields of sustainable aquaculture and consumer protection.
The firm is currently present in the markets of Italy, France, U.S.A, Canada and U.K. and is aiming at the premium segment.
The technical visit focused on Corfu Sea Farm’s operations at sea, viewed by boat before a visit to the farm’s packaging facility on land. The tour took place on Friday 19th October.
The technical visit is a unique aspect of HEM 2018 and the OMC family of conferences providing those attending to see operations first-hand, enhancing their learning and providing an additional setting to develop their networks.
