Friend of the Sea (FoS), the international certification programme for sustainable fisheries products, has launched a new app to help consumers search for restaurants serving FoS certified seafood.
The app for both Android and iOS, provides users with a restaurant description, a link to the website and contact details. Mobile users can also geo-locate the restaurant.
“We appreciate restaurants help in supporting seafood coming from sustainable fishing and farming practices, we will promote their environmental awareness to consumers and media locally,” said Paolo Bray, director, Friend of the Sea.
App users are also able to search all Friend of the Sea labelled products identified by scientific name, producer or supplier, country, fishing or farming method and product type (eg, fish feed, meal, oil etc).
Restaurants serving Friend of the Sea products which are not yet listed on the app can apply to be included.
