Italy’s Caviale Srl, owned by Venatus Srl, has successfully completed its renewal audit for Friend of the Sea (FoS) for the brands Perluga Caviar and Caviar Caviale.

In addition to these brands, Russian sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii), Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baeri), Adriatic sturgeon (Acipenser naccarii) and Beluga sturgeon (Huso huso) have also kept their Friend of the Sea seal of approval.
Carlo Dalla Rosa of Caviale Srl, said: “We are particularly fond of the Friend of the Sea certification, as it independently confirms our full engagement to sustainability at international level.”
Caviale Srl has one of the world’s largest aquaculture farms with over ten hectares of facilities in Italy and farms 200,000 sturgeons with the most innovative equipment and qualified staff at European level.
Caviar is produced in one of the world’s largest sturgeon aquaculture farms which cover 10 hectares, set in the heart of the Lombardy region. The sturgeon has been farmed since 2006 following certified sustainable practices.
Farms reproduce the natural conditions found in sturgeons’ native breeding grounds. The facilities are lined with a layer of river stone pebbles. The typical seasonal fluctuations in temperature and natural light conditions ensure that the sturgeons have a gradual and healthy growth.
Company owner, Carlo Dalla Rosa, who set up the farms in the 90s, was one of the first pioneer sturgeon farmers in Italy when he turned a simple trout farm in an ambitious and pioneering sturgeon farm.
