Wisse has led GSSI for 10 years

Wisse has led the 10-year-old public-private partnership from its humble beginnings when a handful of global seafood companies, retailers and NGOs signed up to develop a first-of-its-kind global benchmark tool for seafood certification schemes. Today, the organisation boasts nine recognised seafood certification schemes and has united 100+ partners in a common cause.

In a statement, the GSSI Executive Committee said, “Without the past 10 years of Herman’s dedication, service and vision, GSSI would not be where it is today. It is with heavy hearts and understanding that we see him stepping down, and we will work hand-in-hand with Herman to ensure a smooth transition that honours his impact on GSSI.”

Wisse commented, “GSSI is stronger than ever and ready for the next step in its journey toward our shared vision of more sustainable seafood for everyone. I am beyond proud of the GSSI team and what we have achieved together, and I look forward to seeing GSSI’s future successes.”

GSSI said it is now seeking a strategic and inspiring leader who enjoys working in a multi-faceted environment.
