Egersund Net and its seven service stations along the Norwegian coast have been certified in accordance with the GlobalG.A.P. standard.

”This is part of a continuous improvement process and we do it for both ourselves and not least for our customers. The certificate shows that the company puts welfare for employees, fish and respect for nature at the forefront,” said Glenn Mo, general manager, Egersund Net.

Gold standard

Egersund Net reviewed its management systems, processes and best practices in accordance with the requirements for certification, but it had already worked with the project for a long time.

By partnering with the certification body Kolos Aqua, the company was able to get certified.

Mr Mo said that standard helps fish farmers get better connected to markets where they can sell their safe and sustainably produced products.

Consumers can also be assured that the food they eat is produced in a sustainable and safe way, knowing that animal welfare and employee welfare is taken into account.

GlobalG.A.P.´s standards for aquaculture serve as a practical handbook for any aquaculture producer to ensure food safety, minimise the environmental impact of biodiversity and comply with animal health and welfare requirements set by the World Organization for Animal Health.
