Seafish has teamed up with the fishing community in the north-west of England to promote the health benefits of the thornback ray, an underused fish species found in UK waters

This partnership is the latest effort under Seafish’s Seafood for Life initiative, which highlights the positive stories surrounding fish and shellfish.

Thornback ray, an important fishery in the north-west, is rich in protein, omega-3 fatty acids and essential vitamins while being low in fat, sugar and salt. However, its consumption has declined over the years.
