Matt Baker

BAFTA award-winning Baker is well-known for presenting BBC’s The One Show, Blue Peter and Countryfile, as well as Channel 4’s Our Farm in The Dales and Travels with Mum and Dad.

A passionate advocate for sustainable farming, Baker grew up on his family’s organic farm in the northeast of England, making him a perfect fit for the event’s focus on quality, sustainability and community.

“We’re thrilled to have Matt on board, his approach to his work really aligns with our own within the fish and chip industry,” said Andrew Crook, president of the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF), which organises the awards.

“Sustainability and the environment are key focuses for us this year, and with the support of our main sponsor, Seafood from Norway, our aim is to push the message that it is possible to invest in more long-term sustainable practices whilst creating more cost-effective approaches to operations.”

Taking place on 26 February at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, the National Fish & Chip Awards celebrate businesses and individuals across the UK which make significant contributions to the fish and chip industry.

Categories include Takeaway of the Year, Restaurant of the Year, Drywhite Young Fish Frier of the Year and Environment & Sustainable Business.

This year sees the return of the International Fish & Chip Operator of the Year category which made its debut in 2024. Sponsored by Premier1 Filtration, a key supplier to the fish and chip industry for over 25 years, the award highlights global businesses that bring the iconic British dish to a worldwide audience.
