Through the Catholic Charities North Fishing Community Fund, local and international seafood companies have provided $25,000 funding to Gloucester, Massachusetts residents in need.
The Fund received a $10,000 grant from the Sailor’s Snug Harbor and $15,000 from local and international seafood companies and their service suppliers.
Donors to the Fund comprised of 34 companies including: Bama Sea Products, Eastern Fish, Elite Seafood, Yuval Gattegno, Hai Yang International, High Liner Foods, Ipswich Shellfish, Label Print America, National Development, National Fish and Seafood, Northern Ocean Marine, Preferred Freezer Services, Sean Slain, Arthur Wang, and Zhangzidad Fishery Group.
Catholic Charities North would not be able to reach families in need in the Gloucester community without the support of these partners. The money is being used to help people like Joan, the daughter of a fisherman, who came to Catholic Charities when despite having regular employment, she couldn’t keep enough food on her shelves to feed herself and her son.
