The first event will be held at the Humber Seafood Institute in Grimsby on 14 February 2013. The aim of the development day, which will comprise of three workshops, is to give processors and importers the chance to learn more about financial support and trading.

Speakers from Seafox, UKTI, Grimsby Institute and North East Lincolnshire Council will begin the day by looking at existing trading partnerships. The second workshop will cover funding opportunities and sources available at both European and local level. The event will end with a workshop on basic skills and training.

Leendert Den Hollaner, CEO, Young’s Seafood, said: “The Humber Seafood Development Day is an important opportunity to continue developing industry practices within the Humber region. Each of the speakers at the event brings with them a wealth of experience and knowledge and will provide insight into key issues, which will be invaluable to participants.”

He added: “It’s vital that members of our industry come together and discuss their own experiences and establish new business opportunities, particularly focusing on how we motivate consumers to eat seafood twice a week, as this will allow the fishing industry to continue evolving.”
