The new distribution centre will be located at Eindhoven’s Park Forum

Billed as the most significant organic investment that the company has ever made, the new facility is expected to shorten the lead times to customers, as well as increasing the business’ scale and operational efficiency.

In a statement, Marel said it is committed to strengthening its position as a trusted maintenance partner for all customers.

“An essential part of being a trusted maintenance partner is our ability to deliver spare parts to our customers around the world – quickly and seamlessly. We are incredibly proud to have reached the important milestone of breaking ground for our new global distribution centre for spare parts in Eindhoven.

“It will be a green, sustainable building with solar panels. It will be highly automated and digitalised and is designed to improve ergonomic conditions for employees and ensure a safe working environment.”

Located at Eindhoven’s Park Forum, the global distribution centre will be close to major logistics service providers, such as FedEx and DHL. It will become operational in 2024, mainly serving the region of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, but also customers and stocking locations in other regions.

One of these is the recently opened Buford spare parts distribution centre in the US.

Dutch construction company van Grunsven is the facility’s main contractor.
