Since the takeover of Hampidjan’s trawl door division, Poly Ice, in Iceland in October last year, the production of Poly Ice trawl doors is well underway at Thyborøn Skibssmedie Ltd in Denmark.
The first two sets of the Poly Ice type Apollo Xstream were manufactured in November and shipped to the buyer. Now all Poly Ice door types will be produced on demand in Thyborøn, and will be the same blue colour and the same quality as Thyborøn Trawldoors.
Thyborøn Trawldoors has also reported that its Type 14 trawl doors have become very popular for semi-pelagic and bottom fishing. Several recent orders have recently been received from vessel owners fishing in the North Sea. Benefits of Type 14 trawl doors include a relatively higher speed with less fuel consumption.
