Piriou has set up companies on La Reunion island and in Senegal to expands its global services.

Vincent Faujour and Laurent Virapoullé signing the contract for Piriou Reunion

The French boatbuilder has partnered with Laurent Virapoullé of Peche Avenir to launch services company Piriou Reunion on La Reunion.

Vincent Faujour, Piriou CEO, said: “Our know-how regarding naval repair crossed with our local partnership with Laurent VIRAPOULLE- one of our most faithful customers- will enable us to offer quality and neighbourhood service to our long-time customers as well as to all shipowners that require technical support in La Reunion.”

Port Ouest location

Piriou Reunion will be located in the slipway area of Port Ouest and operational in February 2018 for naval maintenance or repair, afloat or in dry dock, of types of vessels up to 60m and 650t.

Facilities will include workshops designed and equipped for activities including mechanical and diesel engineering, piping, boiler making and welding.

Piriou has also partnered with Ngom & Freres to form Piriou Ngom Senegal.

Repair in Dakar

Based in Dakar, the new company will offer services for naval repair and building, especially in the fields of fishing, service vessels and defence.

Pascal PIRIOU, president of Piriou, commented: “There have been vessels from PIRIOU in West Africa since 1979 and we have always considered this country to be very promising.

“If we add services vessels and vessels of the Senegalese Navy to the fishing fleet -including the pirogue fleet- there is a true potential for local development.”

The company will employ Senegalese staff and subcontractors.

Piriou has previously set up shipyards in Nigeria in 2004, Vietnam in 2006 and Algeria in 2013.
