Pakistan’s seafood exports increased by 37% to $96.9 million (€73.9 million) in the July to November period of the current fiscal year, according to provisional figures from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The increase in value of $26.2 million (€20 million) came in spite of the European Union’s suspension on imports from Pakistan.
In July to November 2009, the country's exporters sold $70.7 million (€53.9 million) worth of seafood.
The EU delisted all Pakistani seafood exporters in April 2007 and the ban is still in place.
Pakistan has reported significant increases in seafood exports to China, the UAE, Thailand, Korea, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.
