Belgian company Bio-Life SPRL has obtained Friend of the Sea certification for its Omega 3 Magnum 1400 gelatine capsules.

The fish oil in the capsules is from Peruvian anchovies and chub mackerel caught in the Southeast Pacific Ocean. According to the national marine institute, the anchovy stock in the fishing area is not overexploited. The fishery is managed sustainably, following a strict precautionary approach, and highly selective gears are used. Bio-Life is also fully compliant with Friend of the Sea social accountability requirements.
“Sustainability is a fundamental part of Bio-Life's mission,” said Mr Thysebaert and Mrs Lennertz of Bio-Life. “The growing international Omega 3 market expects companies to commit to sustainable sourcing of raw materials.”
