The lifejackets are the Ocean Safety supplied Mullion Compact 150N Personal Flotation Device (PFD).

As long as they have the correct mandatory certification, every fisherman in Scotland will have the opportunity to apply for the latest PFD, for free.

Derek Cardno, Marine Safety and Training officer at the SFF, said "The Scottish PFD project team is delighted that the industry-preferred PFD, the Mullion Compact 150, will be used. Ocean Safety will guarantee a high level of service for the project to the fishing industry in Scotland with their depots in Greenock and Aberdeen.”

Ocean Safety will also provide training and advice to fishermen around the country during organised handovers of the PFDs.

The Mullion PFD new Mark 3 version was chosen by industry experts and fishermen researching the best product for the scheme as the best solution for safety, comfort, durability and design.

Through this scheme the SFF hopes to encourage fishermen to wear personal flotation devices and also raise the overall awareness of the importance of safety within the industry.
