Dolav and Industrial Solutions has launched a new box pallet design that is significantly lighter than traditional insulated boxes allowing for more catch to be transported.
The standardised sizes means that boxes can be easily stacked and the single wall is just 5mm thick compared to 20mm for an insulated box, making transportation easier. Said to weigh 35% less than insulated boxes, more fish can be transported per journey.

“If you have a total limit of 22,000 kilogrammes, you should be able to deliver around 1,000 kilos more of product. It’s also easier to transport empty boxes,” said the company.
The single walls confer another advantage too: boxes cool down three times faster than insulated boxes. “Some people say that might be a disadvantage but it makes it easier to cool the products from the outside because if the box is hot on the inside, it’s more difficult to get the contents cooled,” said the company.
The boxes are made from HDPE food-approved material and are suitable for temperatures as low as -40°C. At end of life they can be fully recycled. Easy to repair, the single wall reduces the contamination risk of a traditional double walled box.
The boxes come with lids, runners, drainage points and optional lifting slots. Other optional extras include customisation with company logo, a wide range of colours, RFID tags and GPS and an antimicrobial additive.
