£1.4m fund to support industry in Wales

Successful applicants will be granted between GBP 500 and GBP 100,000 from a total of GBP 1.4 million.

“The Welsh Marine and Fisheries Scheme is designed to create opportunities within the marine environment, coastal communities and sustainable seafood across the whole supply chain, from production to processing and marketing,” said Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs, Huw Irranca-Davies.

A wide range of activities will be supported under 11 separate categories, all designed to help coastal communities prosper.

Examples include funding to increase the potential of aquaculture sites, emissions-reduction equipment on vessels, professional advice for businesses, and optional health and safety items on board or on land.

Applicants must be registered with Rural Payments Wales Online, where the application and claims processes can be found. The application window is open until 24 March.

There is also free, independent support for applicants available through a Welsh Fisheries Animateur Pilot project funded by Welsh government in collaboration with the Welsh Fisherman’s Association.
