Skretting launches new shrimp nutrition solutions
Skretting has launched three shrimp nutrition products in Ecuador, targeting early-stage feeding, post-larval development and improved production efficiency
Skretting has introduced three new shrimp nutrition products in Ecuador, expanding its LifeStart portfolio with solutions designed to support performance from larval development through nursery production and grow-out.
The launch comprises InVita, a liquid feed supplement; Ignis, a marine-derived nutritional supplement; and Optiline Starters, a stage-specific feed solution intended to improve growth and efficiency across the production cycle.
Eamonn O’Brien, global product manager for LifeStart at Skretting, said: “InVita is designed to help hatcheries move towards a new approach to feeding: simpler, more controlled and built for the future. More than a new product, InVita is an invitation to challenge convention and rethink hatchery production.”
Developed for use alongside Skretting’s Elevia dry feed during larval and early post-larval stages, InVita uses buoyant sponge-gel microbeads to support gut hydration and encourage feed uptake. The ready-to-use supplement is intended to help hatcheries improve feeding consistency and resilience.
Its development involved more than 15 trials and 100 in vivo tests, with validation studies conducted in Ecuador, Vietnam, Belgium and Mexico. Production uses a proprietary ‘Factory in a Box’ platform developed in Belgium and now located in Ecuador.
Ignis is designed to promote feed intake during the critical transition into post-larval development. Produced from concentrated, pasteurised Calanus finmarchicus, a marine copepod rich in essential nutrients, it was developed in partnership with Norwegian company Zooca Calanus.
Completing the portfolio, Optiline Starters combines stage-specific nutrition with EDGEOS PhytoComplexes, developed in collaboration with Nutreco Exploration. The plant-derived bioactive compounds are intended to support shrimp growth and production efficiency.
Carolina Kourroski, marketing director at Skretting LatAm, said early nutritional decisions could influence performance throughout the production cycle, particularly in Ecuador’s established shrimp farming sector.
The company said InVita and Optiline Starters will initially launch in Ecuador, with further markets planned. Ignis is already available in selected markets, extending Skretting’s offering across early shrimp development stages.
