Fishing company Royal Greenland A/S has placed an order for a new trawler. Designed by Skipsteknisk AS, the newbuild will be the fifth vessel to be built by Astilleros Murueta in Spain.

It is scheduled for delivery in the first-quarter of 2025.

The new vessel is of ST‐119 design and will have a length of 82.3 metres and a beam of 18 metres. It will be arranged for a crew of 30 persons accommodated in single cabins.

The vessel will have a freezer hold capacity of about 3,000 cubic metres. It will be built to a DNV class with heavy ice‐class and outfitted for operation in Arctic waters.

According to Skipsteknisk, significant efforts have been taken to improve the vessel’s environmentally-friendly systems and to optimise its onboard energy recovery.

Previously, Royal Greenland has taken delivery of three ST‐designed trawler from Astilleros Murueta – Sisimiut in 2019, Avataq in 2020, and Nataarnaq in 2021.

Fourth vessel Tuugaalik is scheduled for delivery early next year.
