EnerPlex, manufacturer of rugged solar charging and portable power products, has developed a new range of products to make life easier for those travelling away from home.
EnerPlex’s solar panels are based on a shock-resistant and lightweight plastic, allowing them to be safely integrated into backpacks, paniers and phone cases. These products offer a complete portable power solution for many activities – including fishing.
The Packr solar integrated backpack is equipped with EnerPlex’s solar on plastic technology. In good sunlight it is claimed that its 3 watt solar panel can power up most smartphones in less than five hours and charge almost any portable USB enabled device. The Packr features classic backpack amenities, and the company says that the Packr Series can be dropped, kicked, run over by a car, and can even get wet and still be fully functional.
The Surfr iPhone 5/5s multi-function battery case weighs only 89 grams and is 16mm thick, adding practically no weight to the phone. It features a 2000 mAh battery pack that is claimed to more than double the battery life of an iPhone 5, and the built in solar panel can top-up the battery on the go. It can be recharged via a conventional wall outlet or by using solar power in an emergency situation. The Surfr is now also available for iPhone 6.
EnerPlex’s products use Ascent Solar’s award-winning solar technology. Ascent Solar's manufacturing process is based around CIGS (copper-indium-gallium-selenide) deposited onto a polyimide (plastic) substrate. This process is what enables Ascent's solar panels to be flexible and durable while remaining extremely powerful.
