Arni Oddur Thordarson has been appointed as the new CEO of Marel with immediate effect.
He replaces Theo Hoen, who has been Marel’s CEO since 2009.
As Mr Thordarson was previously the company’s chairman, changes have been made within the board of directors, including Asthildur Otharsdottir taking the role of chairman of the board and Arnar Thor Masson being elected vice chairman.
Ms Otharsdottir, says: “We are fortunate that Arni has accepted the role of CEO. Arni has been instrumental in shaping Marel’s strategy during his eight year tenure as chairman. He has broad international industrial experience and knows the company and its markets inside out.”
She also thanked Theo Hoen for his contribution to the growth and success of Marel.
