Safety equipment manufacturer McMurdo has opened a facility in Aberdeen, Scotland to handle the sales, support and servicing of their EPIRB, Navtex, SART and other related products.

The expansion is a logical geographical move for McMurdo, who have its headquarters on the south coast in Portsmouth, and will enable the company to support a wider UK user and dealer base. The move will provide McMurdo with a focussed and dedicated facility to support sales and service in Scotland. The commercial communications division “Signature Communications” is well established at the Aberdeen Location, from which McMurdo will operate.

McMurdo was acquired by Signature Industries in March, adding a new market to Signature's portfolio, whose own emergency beacon product range has until now been aimed at the military market. Signature Communications will be supporting the McMurdo brand in contributing over 75 years of technical product expertise to create a very strong base in Scotland. The new McMurdo location is strategically placed to service commercial fishing fleets which rely strongly on McMurdo safety products, and the shipping fleets based in Aberdeen which support the oil and gas industry.

“We are delighted to be hosting the new McMurdo office here, comments Signature Communications' Business Development Manager Bob Gordon. “Signature already supplies a wide range of electronics and equipment to the shipping industry, and we are already familiar with the McMurdo range. Signature Communications is one of the UK's largest radio and communications equipment suppliers to fleets, and we build our business on a reputation for top quality products and effective local after sales service.”
