Iceland’s Marorka has received certification of its quality management system from classification society Det Norske Veritas (DNV). Last year, the company implemented a quality management system built on the ISO 9001:2000 standard which was successfully audited by DNV last December. In order to receive certification, Marorka has demonstrated that work is performed according to document work processes that ensure reliability, consistency and professional work standards. Marorka has already benefited from the quality management system implementation because the system identifies areas for improvements, ensures quality and excellent customer support.
Marorka is well known for its energy management system, Maren, which aims to minimise oil consumption on ocean vessels and has demonstrated that significant reductions in oil consumption can be achieved by utilising Maren’s methodologies.
Maren has been well received both in Iceland and abroad and was recognised as the ‘Best New Product’ at the Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition held in Kopavogur in September 2005.
