Belgian company MARELEC is presenting its latest trawl control system, MARELEC D.
This fourth generation system combines the latest trawl control algorithms based on the tension and length of fishing wires. All equipment can be serviced from a distance: up to four winches, electric or hydraulic, can be controlled at the same time.
The Dutch pelagic trawler SCH123 Zeeland operated by Jaczon Rederij B.V. is the first to adopt the new system and SCH72 Prins Bernhard is due to receive the system in spring 2013.
MARELEC says the benefit is that all systems can now be monitored by satellite to guarantee an easy service.
