Swiss seafood supplier, Fredag, has been able to extend its offer of Friend of Sea (FOS) certified products because its supply of Black Tiger and Vannamei Shrimps has recently gained FOS approval.

The company’s South East Asian farming site has been found to comply with all sustainable requirements expected for FOS certification scheme and the Environmental Impact Assessment has been carried out successfully.
Theres been found to be no use of antibiotics or growth hormones and no chemical compounds are adopted to prevent infections or disease. The surrounding ecosystem was also found to be in a good state of preservation with water, waste and energy systems managed properly.
Some maintenance and control procedures, in particular concerning animal escapes, were found to be compliant after corrective action being put in place as required by FOS.
FOS is an international non-profit certification scheme for products from sustainable fisheries and aquaculture. Certified products are fished from non overexploited nor IUCN Redlisted stocks and with selective methods which do not impact the seabed.
Fredag is part of the OriorGruppe. Its daily production is between 25 and 30 tonnes, (6500 tonnes per year) and it provides the Swiss market, (both wholesalers and retailers) with a vast range of high quality poultry, meat, vegetarian and seafood convenience products.
