The TUNIPACK® tuna packing machine was launched in 2001 and today 100 units are used by 50 companies from all over the world.

TUNIPACK 500

The characteristics that have turned the TUNIPACK® into the largest sold tuna packing machine were surpassed in 2005 with the launch of the 500 model which, according to manufacturer HERMASA, is the fastest packing machine in the world. It has been bought by major companies such as Jealsa, Bumble Bee, Hijos de Carlos Albo and Bolton Alimentari.

In early 2006 Hermasa moved to its new facilities in the Vigo Technological Park, a site hosting the major technological firms in Galicia. The company also obtained the UNE 166002 EX certification, regulating the management of R&D+I and became the first company in the sector of construction and design of machinery for the fish canning industry to obtain this certification.

The key point of HERMASA's activity is its focus on R&D, allocating 6% of its turnover to this issue. As a result of this policy of innovation, major projects are being carried out to improve the production processes, particularly in the tuna canning sector, in order to provide manufacturers with technology that reduces manufacturing costs and increases productivity.

HERMASA is not only active the tuna canning industry, but also produces exclusive manufacturing equipment such as the FLASH-PACK® automatic sardine packing machine and the automatic sardine cooker CDA. In 2005, new versions of these two machines were launched, with very significant improvements which mean easier use of equipment, less maintenance and higher production capacity.
