The Thuy Hai Seafood Processing Co., Ltd fishmeal factory opened in Vietnam on 19 April.

With a processing capacity of 450MT of raw fish per day, the factory is one of the largest and most modern fishmeal processing plants in Asia.

Construction of the VND120 billion fishmeal factory began in February 2013, and the plant is now situated on over five hectares in the Thuy Tan industrial park.

The new plant has four synchronous production lines which were manufactured using European technology in Thailand. It uses mainly rice husks and sawdust to fuel the steam supplying system with capacity of 21MT per hour.

The factory uses a Unitank wastewater treatment system, which treats wastewater by microorganism and ensure the water is safe before discharging to the environment.

The fishmeal production process will be supervised closely. Fresh raw fish is dried and any impurities are removed before being ground into feed for aquatic species and animals.

The factory will mean that less fishmeal has to be imported to Vietnam, marine stocks in the North Central region will be boosted, and the income of coastal fishermen will be raised.
