The company manufactures and distributes MSC-certified seafood, such as cod, crab, flounder, halibut, salmon and tuna, to Northern Nevada and other surrounding areas in the United States.
“We are extremely proud to be the first to receive such a meaningful recognition of sustainability efforts,” said Chris Flocchini, CEO of Sierra Meat and Seafood.
“We value sustainability and transparency above all which aligns with the MSC’s vision of ensuring the ocean’s supply of food lasts for generations to come. We work towards continuing this tradition every day,” he added.
Both the company and MSC are working towards reducing carbon footprint through sustainable and responsible fishing efforts. The MSC aims to recognise and reward sustainable fishing practices, in order to influence the marketplace choice and positively impact the seafood economy.
