Even better results for ARENCO SFD-300
In the October 2006 issue of World Fishing we reported that AB SEAC’s redesigned ARENCO SFD-300 could handle 35/40 fish/kilo. However, after further trials, the company is pleased to announce that fish can now be filleted down to 50 fish/kilo (10/12cm).
During the test period, former ARENCO and now SEAC technician, Gunnar Hartung, worked with different modifications and tests on smaller and smaller fish. After a bigger project in Sweden (on a local, small lake fish from the salmon group called vendace, 40-60 fish/kilo) the 50 fish/kilo results were obtained. During production tests the machine was able to theoretically produce up to 250-300 fish/min, but the realistic capacity should be 225-250 fish/min, with three operators.
The yield on the Swedish fish was extremely high – up to 60%, which, according to SEAC, is far higher than the normal yield of other filleting machines on the market.
“Sometimes I was astonished and very surprised that such a small fish was able to go through the machine and I almost fainted when we filled the whole table with very small fish (about 50 per kilo) and not a single one got jammed in the machine”, Mr Hartung told World Fishing.
“As this Swedish fish is very similar to anchovy/anchoveta/boquerones, SEAC is now also looking for this market in southern parts of Europe. As the machine can do, say, 225 fish/min with three operators and three operators can do about 15 fish/min by manual filleting, there is a lot to save”, said SEAC’s President, Ulf Groenqvist.
