Nofir AS has established and operates a system for the collection of waste equipment from the fishing and aquaculture industries. What previously often ended up in the sea or along the beaches can now be taken care of and recycled into new products.

The award was presented to Nogir AS CEO Einstein Aleksandersen by Minister of Fisheries Elisabeth Aspaker and Fisheries Director Liv Holmefjord.

"This is a very good environmental measure that also creates jobs both in this country and in countries with high unemployment. A good example of a so-called win-win situation: the industries get rid of a problem and the problem becomes new product", said Liv Holmefjord when awarding the prize.

The Environment Prize has been awarded since 2007 and can be awarded to individuals, companies or organisations that help to make the fishery and aquaculture industries more sustainable.
