Norwegian start-up Catchwise has raised NOK 14.5 million (€1.25M) in its pre-seed funding round. The round was led by Dreamcraft Ventures, joined by Sondo, Ocean Impact and angel investors from tech companies like Oda, Enode and Meltwater.

“The Catchwise team combines exceptional industry knowledge with deep expertise in data and AI. They’re addressing some of the most critical challenges in commercial fishing and have already demonstrated increased catch efficiency, reduced costs, and significantly lower environmental impact,” said Daniel Mariussen of Dreamcraft Ventures.
Sondo’s Henrik Hatlebrekke commented: “Catchwise is exactly the kind of team we love partnering with. Their ambition to transform the entire fishing industry by making it fully data-driven and sustainable aligns perfectly with our mission.”
By combining SAT-AIS (satellite ship tracking) data, 20 years of fisheries data and extensive ocean measurements – like temperature and salinity – Catchwise delivers actionable insights directly to fishing captains.
Its integrated solution featuring real-time visualisation, predictive analytics, and operational automation promises to significantly reduce vessel search times, potentially cutting fuel usage by up to 50%.
It is currently used by over 50 vessels daily.
Catchwise said the funding round will further strengthen the company’s product-market fit and accelerate development of its AI and data platform tailored for maritime operations.
The company was founded by Ludvig Løddesøl, Tomas Roaldsnes, Jonas Dammen, Kristian Andersen Hole and Åsmund Brekke after winning the FishAI: Sustainable Commercial Fishing competition in 2022. Since its founding in 2023 and operational launch in March 2024, Catchwise has been headquartered in Oslo, with temporary offices in Ålesund and a presence across Norwegian coastal cities.
