Domstein has obtained Friend of the Sea certification for its farmed cod production supplies.
According to Friend of the Sea, environmental impact assessments were successfully run before the development of sites, and water parameters are being checked on a daily basis.
The technical specification of Domstein’s cages prevents escapes, while action plans are in place just in case any escape does occur.
A strict feed management procedure is followed and no GM feed is fed.
“Domstein is not new to environmental certification, having also achieved ISO 14001 and KRAV certification,” comments Tone Karstensen of Domstein Fish AS. “Friend of the Sea is an international seafood certification and will surely represent an added value for some European markets.”
