Notus Electronics Ltd delivers net monitoring solutions to fisheries worldwide, and for some years the Alaskan fishery has been a very important market for the company.

Trawlers and seiners in ports such as Kodiak, Dutch Harbour, Sand Point and Sitka are using Notus to fine tune their trawls and seines.
The Ocean Hope 3, which fishes out of Dutch Harbour, installed the Notus Trawlmaster to monitor its trawls. After using the system for some time, Captain Simon Burn sent an email praising the system, which said, "I gotta tell you...I am impressed! LOVE IT!"
Regarding the operation; Captain Burn comments, "I am mainly fishing pollock right now. My trips have been in steep banks where I use the door depth a lot. I also rely heavily on the catch indicators. They work very well."
The picture shows a screen shot indicating some of the parameters that the Ocean Hope 3 monitors. These include: Trawl warp length, doorspread, door depth, door angle and catch. The warp lengths are measured acoustically and are accurate to better than 0.5m. Warp length along with spread, depth and door angle are all measured from a single sensor.
Fusion Marine Tech (offices in Dutch Harbour and Seattle) performed the installation and supports Notus locally.
