Dutch seafood supplier Culimer BV has introduced Global GAP certified white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei) to its product range.
The shrimp are being farmed in Vietnam, according to Global GAP conditions, a leading international quality benchmark for Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
Global GAP has been implemented on more than 100,000 farms in over 100 countries. The standard is designed to assure consumers about how food is produced on the farm ensuring food safety, animal welfare, minimising environmental impacts of farming operations and having a responsible approach to worker health and safety.
Culimer spokesman Maarten van Geest said: “As [a] leading seafood supplier, quality control is the main subject in our daily work. We are glad a quality control system as Global GAP has recognised the quality of our shrimp and emphasised this by its certification.”
