The Commonwealth Fisheries Association (CFA) has released a statement saying it is astounded the Australian government believes that $100 million will be adequate to compensate the fishing industry for the impacts of the proposed marine reserve networks.
“We welcome the Minister’s announcements that the government will consult the fishing industry on the design and implementation of the adjustment package and that the reserves will not come into effect until industry assistance is in place and flowing,” said Ms Madon.
