Manuela Mauro, Researcher, Bythos is confirmed to speak at Fish Waste for Profit conference. Taking place along side the Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition from 16-17th September in Smárinn, Fifan Halls Kópavogur, Iceland.

Bythos is an Interreg V-A Italia-Malta 2014-2020 cooperation project approved for funding in 2018 which aims to use fish waste to increase investment in biotechnologies for human health and blue growth.

The project has created a joint space where experts in biotechnologies, business and industry will meet local enterprise from Sicily and Malta. The space provides technologies, tools and expert skills for enterprise in order to foster investment in innovation.

Dr Mauro has experience working at Italy’s National Research Council (CNR) in Capogranitola (Mazzara) with the Bioacoustics research group and the National Research and Promotion Organization for standardization based in Palermo. Manuela has delivered papers at several national and international scientific conferences and has published 12 papers. In 2020 she became Doctor Europaeus and now has a research grant at the University of Palermo with the SMILING Project to study grape seed oil and the BYTHOS project to study the extraction of bioactive molecules from fisheries-sector waste.
