The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) and the Commonwealth fishing industry are working together to better protect seabirds.
“AFMA will monitor compliance with the plans and assess their effectiveness” said Dr Findlay. “AFMA will work with the industry and other stakeholders to ensure that the risk of harmful interactions with seabirds in the trawl fisheries is as close to zero as possible”.
