Gael Force Group has launched a new 400T SeaFeed steel barge from its partner yard in the Netherlands.
The barge, currently on tow to Scotland, has been commissioned by Mowi Scotland for one of its more exposed sites on the west coast of Scotland.

Constructed to a Lloyds Register-accredited design, the barge will be completed at Gael Force’s premises in Inverness with the addition of its SeaFeed feeding system.
“We are delighted with all aspects of the barge design and appearance,” said group operations director, Stephen Offord.
“The launch went off without a hitch and we are now looking forward to getting it into our own yard, where we can finish fitting out and installing the feeding systems on board.”
For the first time in its history of building more than 100 barges, Gael Force partnered with Nauplius Workboats in the Netherlands while its own facility was fully occupied with new and refurbished concrete barge projects.
“Partnering with Nauplius’s yard on this occasion gave us the flexibility needed to adapt our build programme effectively,” explained Offord.
The barge will be delivered to Mowi’s site before the end of the year.
