Barramundi Group has appointed James Kwan as chief executive officer with effect from 1 January 2023.
James Kwan takes over from Andreas von Scholten who has led the Singapore-based company since November 2019.

Mr Kwan’s focus will be on returning the company to profitability. “On the commercial front, we need to re-assert our brands, innovate and excite the market once again with creative offerings that have defined our earlier successes,” he said.
“The megatrend towards food security and the demand for responsibly produced proteins has only strengthened through the pandemic,” he continued.
“Our position as a leader in sustainable barramundi aquaculture in Asia remains unchanged, and our company remains poised for strong future growth being at the doorstep of the world’s next growth engine.”
With more than 15 years as a senior manager in the marketing, food and beverage sectors, Mr Kwan created Barramundi’s Kühlbarra brand and laid the foundation for its e-commerce business. He has been a member of Barramundi’s executive management team since December 2019, most recently as general manager in Singapore.
Outgoing chief executive, Andreas von Scholten, will join the board as director, also with effect from the new year.
“The company has been through a major transformation in recent years and is now progressing well on the strategy leading to profitability,” he said.
