Meanwhile, international media outlet TIME has named Bakkafrost as one of the world’s best companies in terms of sustainable growth.

TIME, in collaboration with the statistical company Statista, selected 500 companies worldwide that have demonstrated outstanding performance in sustainability while maintaining strong financial stability.

“This recognition shows that we are on the right track, although we continue to work hard to make progress every day. They key word is sustainable growth, and we are therefore incredibly pleased with this acknowledgment,” said Tordis Poulsen, Group Sustainability Director at Bakkafrost.

TIME and Statista’s evaluation is based on revenue growth, financial stability, and the environmental impact of companies globally. Only companies that could provide transparent data, such as sustainability reports, were included in the assessment. Environmental impact in this context includes CO2 emissions (Scopes 1, 2, and 3), energy and water usage, as well as waste management practices.

Bakkafrost has set a goal to reduce its direct emissions by 50% by 2030. Additionally, indirect impacts per ton of produced goods are to be reduced by 52% within the same timeframe.

Furthermore, Bakkafrost has allocated DKK 355 million to implement the necessary energy transition measures between 2024 and 2028.
