Macduff Shipyards Limited from Scotland have just completed a major refit and refurbishment on the Harvest Reaper II BF177, combined with re-engining and conversion to twin-rig fishing.
This vessel was previously the Ocean Rose WY170 and before that she was called BettyJames INS 279, but was originally built in Lossiemouth as the Margaret H INS 279 in 1980.
The vessel is now under the ownership of Garry Ferguson from Tarbert who previously owned Harvest Reaper TT177.
A new Caterpillar 3408TA main engine rated 282kw at 1800RPM has been fitted along with a ZF W350 reverse reduction gearbox with 5.955:1 ratio.
A new Perkins engine has been installed to drive the hydraulics for the deck machinery.
In addition to refurbishing the cabin and fish room the whole of the main deck arrangement was stripped out in order to bring the layout up to date.
The owner supplied a refurbished 3 drum trawl winch and crane/power block and new split net drums were designed and fitted by the yard to suit the new layout.
The fish handling area was also brought up to date.
Minor bulkheads within the shelter area were repositioned to suit a revised layout. Fire insulation and fire doors were then fitted and linings applied to create a well appointed galley/mess room and a toilet/shower compartment, oilskin locker etc.
The layout of the wheelhouse was also changed to accommodate a new package of electronics supplied by the owner.
