Acting for Napier Brown Holdings, the Southampton office of Edward Symmons has sold the UK’s only barramundi farm, one of the largest farms in Europe.

A 3.64 acre site, the barramundi fish farm in Lymington was sold for £4.3million. The farm comprises 55,400 sq ft of buildings, with 48 different tanks, which accommodate the fish through the various stages of their development from fingerlings to harvest plate size (a period of about five months).

The barramundi fish originates in Australia but have become increasingly popular in the UK. The fish farm continues to be operated by International Aqua Farms Ltd, a subsidiary of Aquabella Group plc whose aim is to establish a supply of fresh premium quality fish from a fully sustainable source. The company was recently listed on AIM.

The premises are leased at a current rent of £306,000pa and was sold as an investment to Ranyer Limited who were advised by Warwick Martel.
