Construction is due to start this month on a new flagship vessel for Ytterstad

The 75m vessel, designed bySkipsteknisk AS, will be 15.4m wide and will have a tank capacity of 2,100m3.

The advanced vessel will be equipped in the same way as a modern oceanographic vessel, and can be used for research projects in Northern areas.

The vessel will be equipped with a separate diesel-electric propulsion system that can be used in the exploration phase and research or other special operations. Dynamic positioning will be made in accordance with side thrusters which are positioned in the stern.

It will be equipped with dual roll reduction tanks to better regulate the movements under different operational conditions. The interior is based on a modern design and is designed with high standards for noise reduction.

All of the winches, net handling equipment, cranes and trawl/seiner blocks will be supplied by Karmøy Winch AS.

For purse-seining the vessel will be equipped with two 40 ton purse-seine winches, one 40 ton net hauler and one 20 ton end wire winch.

For trawling the deck machinery will include two 80 ton trawl winches, one 40 ton tail end winch and two 90 ton net drums.

The fish handling system with the fish/water separation and distribution of fish to and from the RSW tanks is arranged by the Norwegian manufacturer Cflow Fish Handling AS

Delivery is due in July 2014.
