The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) has announced the appointment of Michael Szemerda and Trin Tapanya to its board of directors.
The company says the two bring extensive experience which will provide invaluable guidance as it continues to champion responsibility and innovation in global seafood production.

“Michael and Trin’s diverse perspectives and deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the seafood industry will be instrumental in helping us achieve our mission of advancing responsible seafood practices worldwide,” said Mike Kocsis, chief executive of GSA.
Michael Szemerda, currently serving as the global chief sustainability officer at Cooke Inc., brings over 30 years of expertise in environmental programs, regulatory compliance and sustainability initiatives.
At Cooke, he oversees the company’s global wild and farmed seafood operations and has previously held the role of vice president of Saltwater Operations for Cooke Aquaculture’s North American division.
Trin Tapanya, senior vice president of Operations at Chicken of the Sea Frozen Foods/Thai Union Group, offers a wealth of knowledge in seafood business operations, supply chain management and the foodservice industry.
Her broad experience is expected to further GSA’s mission to promote sustainable practices and innovation across the sector.
