UK seafood authority, Seafish, will be holding a range of seminars for industry on its stand at the Seafood Expo Global in Brussels next week.
Over the three days of the Seafood Expo Global, a team of experts at Seafish will present a selection of initiatives, tools and market information available from organisation to an international audience.
Tom Pickerell, Seafish Technical Director, will be presenting the Risk Assessment for Sourcing Seafood (RASS), a seafood buyer’s tool which has been incorporated into the sourcing policies of major UK businesses including Young’s seafood and Waitrose.
Head of Advocacy for Seafish, Libby Woodhatch, will present a seminar on The Responsible Fishing Scheme (RFS), an accreditation designed to raise standards in the catching sector.
Helen Duggan, Head of Responsible Sourcing, will talking about the Seafish Gear Technology Database, designed to help the catching sector deal with the challenges of the Landing Obligation. The database is an online portal which provides list of commercial fishing gear and selectivity devices, and includes illustrations and links to scientific trials and reports.
Finally, Market Insight Analyst Julia Brooks will provide details on the range of market information available to the UK seafood industry, including retail price fluctuations and consumption, import and export data, global supply updates and key foodservice trends.
