Seafish are pleased to announce the establishment of a new Industry Project Fund for the seafood industry. Available to all sectors of the industry, the fund will finance bursaries for students, provide grant assistance for innovative ideas, give funding for projects managed or conducted by Seafish and supply collaborative R&D funding for partnership operations.
The Seafish Board have allocated up to £1million to the Industry Project Fund. In order to access funds, businesses/individuals will be provided with application forms and appraisal, interim and final reporting documents. All applicants will receive feedback on their application.
In order to ensure that the funds are allocated fairly and to the most deserving projects or individuals, Seafish has set up a Project Review Group. The role of the group will be to review and score funding applications using a strict set of criteria. Where necessary, external independent reviewers and industry expertise will be co-opted by the group.
John Rutherford, Chief Executive of Seafish, said: "This is great news for the industry, particularly for projects that deliver value for money and innovative ideas that will help the industry. An essential feature of any successful industry is constantly looking at better ways of doing things and fostering a culture of innovation.
"The Industry Project Fund will enable new talent to enter the industry, and for existing individuals and businesses to research exciting new ideas."
