Established in 1962, Bekina (division of the Vanderbekegroup) specialises in the production of PU (polyurethane) wellingtons/boots.

As a result of the company's expertise acquired over the years, Bekina has become one of Europe’s leading PU boot manufactures. Annually the company exports more than 350,000 pairs of boots to more than 45 countries throughout the world.
Bekina quotes the three main advantages of its boots as:
Light as a feather: A PU-boot weighs 700g, where as a PVC or rubber boot weighs 1060g - the PU boot is 40% lighter.
Thermo-insulating: Polyurethane is a foamed material and air is an excellent insulator. The boots keep feet warm in the winter and cool in summer. The company claims that the wearer will have warm feet, even at -30°C.
Durable: PU boots are easy to clean with clean water and are resistant to chemicals, fats and oils.
